A TripAdvisor acirc cent TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Kuching Malaysia by TravelPod blogger Itischicken2010 titled quot Baku National Park Where the Jungle meets the Sea quot Itischicken2010 s travel blog entry quot Superman T-shirt count 4 Cat count 4 Noodle soups eaten 1 We wake early to jam toast and instant coffee with creamer we were sorely disappointed at not getting to eat the world s biggest pancake but unfortunately the very sweet staff member informed us he didn t know how to make them packed our bags and headed out to the bus to Baku National Park Ok after we miss the first bus we decide to walk around to the bus depot to catch it from there an opportunity to take more photos anyways D The bus ride to the river Sarawak took about an hour and cost RM3 about a buck then we jumped on a small motor boat out to the Island which was a very stunning sight The picture of Julia and Emma s face says it all We were sent to our cabin which smelled distinctly of mould and something else we couldn t decipher maybe monkey wee which was set in the beautiful jungle surrounding Of course the first thing on our mind was lunch which consisted of noodles more noodles deep fried egg and cardboard chips Then feeling gung-ho we set off for a three and a half hour hike 5 minutes later not feeling so gung-ho and looking like we had just been for a swim sweat dripping all over our bodies we were on our way We all discovered how extremely unfit we were when all 3 stopped talking the first time since we had landed in KL All hell bent on beating the assigned 3 5 hours we finished the walk in 2 with Emma and Jane opting to go further to the beach with a sip of water left each An hour and a bit later when Julia came across the two again at the canteen they both bought two bottles of water a beer and an isotonic Jane sat there and snarled at passers by who looked like they might potentially take her drinks Emma and Julia included Needless to say they both took sufficient water on the next hike That night we all took a walk down the beach to watch the sunset The only way to describe it was truly amazing or Malaysia truly asia We took a few dorky shots and then yes we went for dinner Dinner was a variation on lunch with a few green vegies thrown in for good measure The next morning we rose at 6am and were hoping to do the 7 hour journey across the island After talking with the guides who had a little giggle on our behalf we found out this was 7 hours one way and we would have to stay the night if we wanted to do this Therefore we opted to do a quick walk to the Tela Paluka beach only 800m away before breakfast and then do something a bit more strenuous after breaky The 800m walk took an hour and a half which included a near miss monkey attack When we returned to the canteen yes for more food Emma asked what we should do next The look on all of our faces suggested we didn t want to do anymore walking so we packed our things and headed back to the mainland On our bus ride back into town a flurry of school kids got on the bus and it seemed they had never seen a westerner in their life All of the boys shyly approached the back seat near to where we were sitting and slyly although in truth quite obviously put their mobile phone over their heads in order to get a sneaky shot of Jane Jane playing the kid gave a smile and a peace sign which ended up in the boys giggling and going to the front of the bus to show all their mates Very very cute I think we all wanted to take one home each After our wonderful experience at Mr D s we decided to stay in alternative accommodation on our return to Kuching This time we chose the Singashana which to all of our delight had air con clean toilets and showers and a massive bar No one other than a traveller understands the absolute delight at having a clean shower it is heaven Jane and Emma again nicked the top bunks After cleaning and preening we went to the bar for our complimentary drink of rice wine And can I just say Julia speaking OMG I have found my new favourite drink Emma and Julia proceeded to get on rice wine and beer whilst Jane proceeded to get tipsy and have quot Read and see more at http www travelpod com travel-blog-entries itischicken2010 1 1288613471 tpod html Photos from this trip 1 quot Prettiness quot 2 quot More prettiness quot 3 quot On the way to park headquarters quot 4 quot Baku HQ quot 5 quot Sneaky monkey quot 6 quot Baku wildlife eeep quot 7 quot Jungle trail quot 8 quot Ant trail quot 9 quot Lintang trail day one quot 10 quot Baku wildlife quot 11 quot Wow quot 12 quot Beach that we found quot 13 quot Beach weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee quot 14 quot Naughty monkey quot 15 quot Naughty monkey again quot 16 quot Sunset day one quot 17 quot More sunset quot See this TripWow and more at http tripwow tripadvisor com tripwow ta-00e7-67c6-a2e4 ytv4 1
